How To Measure Your Room - Virtual Design Special

Updated: Mar 3

Did you purchase our virtual design package but has no idea of how to measure your room? Don't worry! We created this guide to help you take measures like a pro and make your process smoother.

"Before you start" list:

  • Paper - It can be a regular white paper, a notebook or grade paper.

  • Measuring tape.

  • Per or Pencil (make sure it is visible)

  • A ruler

Step 1: Drawing the Floor Plan

Start by sketching the outline of your space. Make sure to include all doors, windows, and doorways. These details are key to creating a functional design. No need for perfection—just a clean and clear representation will work.

Step 2: Overall Measurements

Begin by measuring the outer dimensions of your space. This is crucial to ensure all other measurements align correctly.

  • You can record measurements in inches, feet/inches, or even metric—whichever you’re most comfortable with. This example is in feet/inches.

Step 3: Measuring the Details

Next, focus on the details:

  • Measure doors, windows, and doorways. Ignore the frames—measure only where the actual door or glass begins and ends.

  • Double-check your measurements by adding up all the detailed dimensions on each wall. They should match the overall measurement you recorded earlier. If something doesn’t add up, go back and re-measure to ensure accuracy.

Done? Yaay

Now, before sending us, take a picture of each wall, so we can visualize the whole room. Videos are also very useful.

We can't wait to start your beautiful project!!!
